Understanding How ACROWRX Deals with Your Data

When you open a data file for analysis on ACROWRX, all that information is processed locally on your machine. Nothing is uploaded at this stage. This makes ACROWRX very secure and private.

Files are only uploaded to our database if you choose to:

• Create your personal archive of flights
• Share your flights with the public, friends, or your team
• Have your flight critiqued and scored

Cropping Your Flight

⚠️ - WARNING

If you don't crop your flight, or if you crop a section that is too long, ACROWRX will warn you. Aerobatic sequences normally last about 5 minutes. Our current threshold is 7 minutes. You can upload longer flights, such as airshow sequences, but you may run out of space in your database.

Figure start markers on the timeline

When you open a contest flight (or another context where figure markers are enabled), a row of amber triangles appears on the time / crop slider, one per figure in the program (labeled F1, F2, … above the rail).

• Drag a triangle left or right to set the sample index where that figure is considered to start along the cropped flight. Markers must stay in figure order and keep a small minimum gap from each other.
• Double-click a triangle to snap that figure’s start to the current time (the position of the center slider thumb).
• Changes save automatically to the database (you’ll see a short toast). If you can only view the flight (e.g. as a judge), markers appear read-only when positions exist in the database.

Uploading Your Flight

After cropping your file, use the left menu to access the upload pop-up window. This operation will upload your flight to the ACROWRX database, and the settings during this operation will determine who will be able to see your flight.

Where the flight goes

The top of the window has an Upload to slider. A short line under it explains the option you picked.

Option	Who sees the flight
Private	Only you, plus any users you share it with later from your Personal Page.
Public	Every ACROWRX user. The flight is listed in the public flight table on the Home page.
Team	Only your team. Shown only if you are on a team.
Contest	Submitted to a contest you joined. See Uploading Contest Flights. Not available for simulated flights.

When you choose Team, a panel opens under the slider:

• Share with team — pick one or more teams by their avatar. The teams you picked last time are selected for you.
• Who on the team sees it — Whole team, or Coaches & judges only.
• Hand in for an assignment (optional) — if a coach gave you an assignment, pick it to hand this flight in. The flight then takes the assignment's sequence for scoring.

A Team upload never goes to the ACROWRX public flight list. The Upload button stays off until at least one team is picked.

When you choose Contest, a panel lists the contests you joined that are taking uploads, by their avatar. Pick one; if only one contest is open, it is picked for you.

Flight details

Below the divider, fill in:

• Flight Description - A short description of your flight
• Comments - More detailed comments about your flight
• Category and Model - The category flown and the airplane model used in the visualization
• Sequence Selector - Select your sequence or upload OpenAero files to set up a new sequence. Visit OpenAero - ACROWRX Integration page

After clicking the UPLOAD button, watch the toasters at the bottom right of your screen to ensure the upload was successful.
